Introducing our smartstrap blog

Pebble announced smartstraps on March 3rd, 2015, as part of their record-breaking Pebble Time Kickstarter.

The next major milestone in the smartstrap timeline was the unveiling of the smartstrap API at the Pebble Rocks Boulder hackathon in Boulder, CO. This event resulted in almost two dozen smartstrap-based projects, as well as a good deal of buzz for the new accessory port, including coverage by Make:!

It wasn’t long before commercial smartstraps started to appear, such as the hackable Seeed RePhone Strap Kit, the gesture-controlled Deus Ex Aria Wearable, the TYLT VÜ Pulse heart rate monitor and wireless charger, the (unsuccessfully funded) Ripple Solar Watch Strap, the Pagaré NFC Payment Smartstrap, and the Pal GPS and Extended Battery Strap. We have backed, beta tested, developed for, or will otherwise be receiving each of these smartstraps; as of publication, the only to have successfully shipped to backers is the Seeed RePhone Strap Kit for Pebble Time, but many of the others should start shipping soon, at which point you can expect in-depth reviews, comparisons, and development insights from us! :bowtie:
